Dealing with Set Backs and how to Overcome

Dealing with Set Backs and how to Overcome

Setbacks, misfortune, dysfunction. Whether you're 5 or 50 I'm sure you've experienced some type of let down. How did you deal with it? Did you cry to let out your emotions? Did you get angry at the world and become mad at everyone and everything? The main question is how did you deal with the situation?

I've definitely had my share of setbacks and one of the best things that I can tell you is to become resilient. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary the definition of resiliency is having the tendency to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change.  Being able to do this during the hardest points of your life not only shows your character but it shows the very true nature of the human spirit.

When we think about overcoming setbacks more than often we think about how we must be persistent and preserve.   We talk about having faith and being hopeful that things are going to change. Truth is faith without works is dead, and hope is for the delusional. That may sound harsh but let me explain myself. Having faith and being hopeful are good, never let go of those thoughts because thoughts manifest into reality. However the question still remains, How are you going to deal with  the situation at hand?  Having that ability to bounce back and to take things as the come can be hard.  At this point you're probably asking yourself how. How can I keep pushing after i’ve heard a million No’s? , How can I keep my confidence after i've been pushed away so many times  before. If it hasn’t worked by now then it’s never going to work. If these are your thoughts at the moment then take a step back and ask yourself what is my purpose? Who/ what am I fighting for? , and Will it be worth it in the end?

What’s going to drive you to put in the work so that the faith and hope manifest can become reality. The answer is simple, It’s your resilience.  The power of being resilient is un-measurable by any means of the word.  It takes the  strength  of hope and the compassion of faith and molds them into tangible solutions for the present. From a personal standpoint resilience is the reason why i’m here today. When I was feeling down and hope was fading away I was resilient. When I was rejected time after time after time I used my faith to feed my resilience . When I was in a bad situation I made do with what I had. I have and have always had the ability to go with the flow, to adjust easily to change and to make the comfortable feel comfortable within my presence.

According to Invictus by  William Ernest Henley ,”I am the master of my fate”  In this life we can’t control what other people do or how they act. We can’t control nature, and we can’t control life. What we can control is how we choose to react to the situation. You are the master of your fate. All of those uncontrollables are controlled by you based off how you choose to react to those situations. Having the ability to be able react in a resilient way not only puts you back in control of nearly every situation but you become powerful beyond measure

From what i’ve learned so far  on this  journey of  walking by faith and not by sight is that you can walk blindly into really difficult obstacles along the way. Resilience is what helped me keep my faith , resilience   was the life support to my hope and it was a test of my inner strength . If I had nothing else at the very least  it gave me a peace of mind . Being able to adapt to situational changes keeps us evolving. Looking back  at my on my own experiences i’m so proud of myself for having the courage and strength to adapt and change.

So let’s recap….

When you experience a setback face it head on. Look for a solution to the problem and adapt to the situations at hand,

Remember  in  walking by faith and not by sight  that you will run straight into obstacles that were unavoidable  If you use  your resilience to help guide you you’ll never fail.

As the story goes , everything happens for a reason so let things come to you. If a situation isn't  going how you wanted it to instead of doing things the  way they’ve always been done take a different path on the road less traveled. You might find a better answer to the problem that you were hoping to get resolved.

Lastly just remember that you are the master of your fate. You can’t control what others do , but you can control you. Mastering  self will not only give you control  over the situation, but it will make you powerful beyond measure against any obstacle in life

I hope these words will help you on your journey. Remember being resilient is one of the strongest things we can be. Having the ability to  adapt to change under any circumstance and having elasticity to spring back under every means not only make you powerful but an inspiration  to others as well.
